2022 Season
Check here for the fixtures and results from the 2022 season. We participated in the NOSCA Senior League as well as the Senior Cup and the Reserve Cup.
April
Sunday 24th April: Reserve Cup – Ross County (Away)
Lost by six wickets – A close match with Ross County reaching their target with only six balls remaining. A match which definitely cleared away the off season rust. Read the match report here.
Saturday 30th April: Friendly – Ross County (Home)
Called off – Ross county were unable to raise a team and in all fairness, we were struggling too!
May
Saturday 14th May: Friendly – Oban (Home)
Won by seventy runs – This was a great friendly with a fantastic opposition. A very enjoyable match with some excellent performances from some of our newest members. Read the match report here.
Saturday 21st May: Senior League – Forres (Away)
Lost by eight wickets – Intense, tight until the closing stages and hard fought on both sides, this was a close match and, in some ways, a bitter loss. But our senior league debut was full of positives even if the result was disappointing. Read the match report here.
Saturday 28th May: Senior League – Nairn County (Home)
Won by seven wickets – An excellent display all round awarded us our very first senior league victory. Read the match report here.
Sunday 29th May: Reserve Cup – Skye & Lochalsh (Home)
Won by five wickets – A great day of reserve cricket against a fantastic opponent to complete a gold standard weekend for Fort Augustus. Read the match report here.
June
Saturday 4th June: Senior League – Ross County (Away)
Lost by twenty-seven runs – Another day at Ross County and another close match. Once again we were on the wrong side of the result. Onwards to the next one. Read the match report here.
Saturday 11th June: Senior League – Elgin (Away)
Won by six wickets – Well this was a windy one! Difficult playing conditions actually led to a fascinating but fraught match. Read the match report here.
Saturday 18th June: Senior T20 (Away)
Won one, lost one – A dominant first win against Ross County set up a match with Northern Counties, with the winner progressing to the final. Unfortunately we capitulated fairly timidly in the end. Read the match report here.
Sunday 19th June: Reserve T20 (Home)
Won two, through to the final – A solid win against Ross County (I am starting to wonder if there are any other teams in this league), set up a second game against Skye to see us through to the final. We won, but it was closer than we anticipated. Read the match report here.
Saturday 25th June: Senior Cup (Semi) – Ross County (Away)
Lost by four wickets – The one that got away. A close game in the end with a solid chase from RC. Read the match report here.
July
Saturday 2nd July: Senior League – Northern Counties (Away)
Abandoned – Despite a good start from our upper order, the rain came down and the match had to be called off.
Sunday 3rd July: Reserve Cup – Northern Counties (Home)
Abandoned – Our second Northern Counties game to go be the wayside, so much rain came down overnight in Fort Augustus it flooded our billiard board pitch!
Saturday 9th July: Senior League – Elgin (Home)
Won by ninety-three runs – A comprehensive win that leaves us third in the table. Some real stand out performances included a great knock (well deserved) for the skip. Read the match report here.
Sunday 10th July: Reserve T20 – Final (Away)
Lost two – These were always going to be two difficult games. Having lost the first match to Highland, it was essential we won the second. However Buckie were once again a strong side and took home the spoils in the end. No match report for this one, I’m afraid.
Saturday 16th July: Senior League – Nairn County (Away)
Lost by six wickets – We simply did not put enough runs on the board leading to a chase at just under four an over. Nairn batted with control and slowly saw out the game. Read the match report here.
Sunday 17th July: Reserve Cup (Group Stage) – Highland (Away)
Lost by eighty-three runs – After a defeat in the previous days’ match we were hoping to bounce back with a win. But with Highland batting well and smooth outfield running very quickly, we let them get too far ahead leading to a chase which was just too much for us on the day. Read the match report here.
Saturday 23rd July: Friendly – Dornoch (Away)
Cancelled – Unfortunately Dornoch were unable to raise a team, however, I am sure we can find another date for a match.
Saturday 30th July: Senior League – Forres (Home)
Lost by one hundred and six runs– Not our day. While Forres posted an achievable total of 280 runs we never got going during our innings and fell well behind the required rate. There is no match report for this game, apologies.
August
Saturday 13th August: Senior League – Northern Counties (Home)
Lost by seventy-three runs – This was a frustrating loss. After having them on the ropes we managed to give away a strong position. A match we really should have shut out. Read the match report here.
Saturday 20th August: Senior League – Ross County (Home)
Lost by five wickets – A low scoring game with the usual problems. Our batting line up didn’t fire like we are capable of and our bowling, while aggressive, gave away too many extras. While there are positives to take away, this one was disappointing. Read the match report here.
Saturday 27th August: Senior League – Northern Counties (Away)
Postponed – Following a ruling from NOSCA, this game was postponed to the following weekend. The need for a ruling was instigated by NCCC and we were ultimately disappointed with the final decision as we made every effort to ensure the game could be played on what turned out to be a beautiful weekend.
September
Saturday 3rd September: Senior League – Northern Counties (Away)
FACC Forfeit – Due to the events of the previous weekend and the ruling putting us in the position of having to cancel our friendly with Dornoch (the Saturday fixture making it extremely unlikely we could find a team for Sunday as well), we chose instead to support a new and upcoming club and honour our arranged friendly fixture.
Sunday 4th September: Friendly – Dornoch (Away)
Called off – After weeks and weeks of perfect cricket weather (the silver lining to the long dry spell which is causing some issues), we were beaten by the weather gods. A real shame as we were looking forward to this one. Next time!
Sunday 11th September: Friendly – Comrie (Away)
Called off – It seems Comrie have injury woes and are unable to travel. We will try again next season.
Sunday 18th September: Friendly – Skye (Home)
Lost by one wicket – Another great game against Skye. Played in a great spirit against a great opponent. Close all the way and a worthy way to end the season. Read the match report here.
Sunday 25th September: Friendly – Oban (Away)
Called off – Unable to raise a team, maybe next season. Apologies to Oban for not being able to make this one to happen this year.
